Frost Nixon

Movie starts with snips of the Watergate hearings which was Nixon employees breaking into the democratic head quarters and stealing tapes from the democratic office at the Watergate office then his Resigning of the presidency of the United States of America. Right after Ford took office he gave Nixon a pardon from Watergate. Nixon was gonna do an interview with CBS and Mike Wallace, but David Frost outbid CBS for the interview. Frost was working in Australia and flew into LA to do interview. Frost is doing it to try to get into America to get another show not really interested in the politics. Frost had an American show that did not work before this. All the major networks passed over the interview to start with. Frost gets the funding for the Interview from Private funding. David Frost and his team of did research for 2 plus months to prepare for the interview. Jack Brennan Nixon's chief of staff calls Frost to try to make everything negative in the interview under the Watergate story but Frost denies to do it. The interview was done at a place called smith house which was owned by a republican businessman. Nixon before the interview takes verbal stabs at Frost. Frost starts off by asking Nixon about why he didn't burn the Watergate tapes out of the contract. Nixon goes off on a good answer and knocks Frost back on his heels. Nixon giving long answers to take up time. Between interviews David Frost has to go to advertisers to get more funding to pay for the interviews. 2nd day Frost really buckles down on Nixon about Vietnam and Cambodia. 3rd day was about foreign policy. And Nixon is still running over Frost. Nixon calls Frost and tells him the next interview is gonna be great and he is gonna stomp Frost again. Frost goes right to work and starts doing more work. The last interview is all about Watergate. Frost goes after Nixon about obstruction of justice theory about Watergate. Nixon gets blown back a little. Bringing up the transcripts of Watergate and a cover up that has a lot evidence to it, Nixon backtracks the whole time. Gets him to admit to Watergate. The key quote in the interview is Nixon said he thinks the president does something it isn't illegal. And right before Nixon says he was apart of the cover up his Chief of Staff walks in and interrupts the interview. Nixon says he made mistakes Horrendous ones. Then he admits he was involved in a cover up. Nixon says he let down the American people, the country, and the system of government. And finally says his political life is over. Frost did something 2 plus years of government investgation failed to do get Nixon to crack. The interview was highest rated news interview in history. David Frost got the cover of TIME for it. Frost went to Nixon's house to say good bye. The man who played David Frost did a great job but i think they miscast Nixon Frank Langella didnt look or sound like Nixon. Is very accurate in the tv interview but there was over 28 hrs of interviews they cut down to 90 minutes.
